North Branch Community Art
Minnesota Home Guys Celebrates a New Mural in North Branch
Minnesota Home Guys has called North Branch home since January 2025. Our team helps homeowners sell their houses quickly and conveniently, then renovates many of those properties so they can be used again and enjoyed by the next owner. A lot of our work is tied to real estate, but our larger goal is also about helping people through major life changes and investing in the communities we serve.
When the mural opportunity came together with the Chisago County HRA/EDA and support from the East Central Regional Arts Council’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, Minnesota Home Guys saw a chance to invest in North Branch in a different way. The project was never just about painting a wall. It was about creating something people could notice, enjoy, and feel connected to.
Why This Mural Matters to the Community
Murals can make a building feel more welcoming. They give people a reason to stop, take photos, ask questions, and spend more time in a downtown area. For North Branch, this mural adds color and character to a public-facing space while giving the community something new to gather around.
At Minnesota Home Guys, our vision is to build trust, transform lives, and revitalize communities. Renovating homes is one part of that work. Supporting public spaces, local art, and community projects is another way we can help strengthen the places where we live and work.
Public art helps small towns show their identity in a way people can see and experience every day.
Minnesota Wildlife and Scenery
The mural includes a walleye, wolf, loon, northern lights, pine trees, and owls. These details were chosen because they reflect the natural beauty and character of Minnesota.
Community Participation
During Student Day, students and community members were able to see how a large mural is created, ask questions, and help paint parts of the wall.
A Nod to Local Legend
Bigfoot was included as a fun detail tied to local folklore and Minnesota Home Guys’ branding.
Working With Artist Taylor Shaw
Minnesota Home Guys worked with artist Taylor Shaw to create a mural that feels connected to North Branch and the state of Minnesota. The design was built around recognizable Minnesota imagery, but the finished piece also has a playful side that makes it memorable.
A project like this takes planning, layout work, painting, weather coordination, and help from several partners. Taylor’s work brought the idea to life and helped turn the wall into something people can stop and enjoy.
The mural was designed to be local, approachable, and easy for people of all ages to connect with.
Student Day Brought the Community Into the Process
One of the best parts of the project was Student Day. Students and community members visited the site, watched Taylor work, asked questions, and helped paint sections of the mural. It gave people a hands-on look at what public art requires and allowed them to be part of something that will remain in North Branch.
For many people who stopped by, the mural was not just something to look at. It was something they got to help create.
Public Art Can Help Bring People Downtown
A mural can give people a reason to visit a building, walk around, take photos, and talk about what is happening in town. That kind of activity matters for small communities. It makes a space feel cared for and gives residents another reason to be proud of where they live.
Minnesota Home Guys hopes this project encourages other businesses and organizations to think about what public art could do in their own communities.
Revitalization Is Not Only About Houses
Minnesota Home Guys renovates houses and helps homeowners move through important transitions, but community revitalization is not limited to real estate.
A brighter public space, a shared art project, and a reason for people to gather can all play a role in making a community stronger.
Mural Unveiling on July 18
After several weeks of work, Minnesota Home Guys is excited to celebrate the completed mural with an official unveiling on July 18. The event will recognize the artist, partners, students, and community members who helped make the project possible.
Everyone is invited to stop by, see the finished mural, and celebrate a new piece of public art in North Branch.
